Maintaining good oral hygiene is essential to your overall health. If you are looking for a Wilmington dentist who uses the latest tools and technology to keep you teeth looking clean and feeling great, you have come to the right place!
Our hygiene department wants every dental cleaning to meet your health needs and to feel completely comfortable so that maintaining your preventive dentistry is easy.
Some of the tools we use to remove the biofilm, plaque, tartar and bacteria from your teeth and gum line include:
Dental hygiene instruments – We use precision instruments to gently remove tartar from your teeth. Once plaque hardens into tartar, you cannot remove it with a toothbrush or floss alone. Our instruments flick tartar from your teeth, often in small sheets or chunks leaving behind healthy enamel.
Dental suction - Suction allows us to see your teeth clearly and keeps our work area free from saliva and debris. Thanks to suction, there is no more spitting in tiny sinks.
Loupes – Loupes are high magnification glasses that give us a closer look at your teeth.
Digital dental x-rays – Typically, you will have x-rays periodically at your hygiene appointment. Digital x-rays give us the opportunity to diagnose conditions in the earliest stages when they are easiest to treat.
Identifi 3000 – This life-saving diagnostic tool allows us to spot cancer cells before they are visible to the naked eye, giving you a higher success rate.
Prophy paste – Prophy paste is a mildly abrasive paste that polishes away residual tartar and surface stains from your teeth. It feels a little gritty while we polish it on, but when we rinse it off, you will have a clean, smooth, fresh feeling smile.
Prophy angle - The polisher we use to buff your teeth with trophy paste. It has a rubber tip for gum comfort.
Toothbrush and floss – Finally, we finish up with brushing and flossing your teeth to make sure all debris is removed before you leave the office. A final rinse will remove any remaining prophy paste.
