One of the best things about Invisalign (and what sets the system apart from braces) is that there are no eating restrictions. Because you remove your aligners before meals, you can continue with your current diet and enjoy all your favorite foods.

Of course, there are other benefits of Invisalign that you may not have considered besides no eating restrictions.

Invisalign advantages include:

  • Discretion: Discreet treatment with virtually invisible aligners
  • Comfort: Comfortable plastic aligners for ease of wear
  • Flexibility: Fewer dental visits compared to braces

After treatment, you’ll appreciate straighter teeth that are easier to brush and floss. An aligned smile also reduces tooth wear and tear while supporting jawbone health and comfort.

How Invisalign® in Wilmington, DE, Works

First, you visit the dentist for a thorough Invisalign consultation. This appointment determines your candidacy, answers your questions, and you’ll learn how long treatment will last. On average, people wear their aligners for less than 2 years.

If you’re a candidate for Invisalign, we take careful digital impressions of your teeth and send the results to the Invisalign lab. The lab fabricates the aligners you’ll need and then sends them to our dental clinic for pickup.

You wear each aligner in sequence for approximately two weeks before moving on to the next. Additionally, we encourage you to keep the aligners on your teeth for at least 22 hours a day, removing them only to eat and clean your teeth.

You visit us only periodically for orthodontic monitoring.

As the months go by, you’ll notice your teeth gradually moving into straighter positions. At the end of treatment, your dentist in Wilmington, DE, provides a custom retainer to prevent your teeth from shifting back to their pre-orthodontic positions.
